Rob Sherwood, managing director of Hub Exhibitions, has sold Space-Comm Expo and set up Sherwood Events to continue running Karen Brady’s Women in Business and Tech Expo.
Lunar Ridge Ventures, which has been formed by the founders of media and marketing services firm MVF Global, has acquired both the London and Glasgow-based Space-Comm Expos as part of the deal for an undisclosed investment.
Space-Comm Expo will take place at Excel London from 11-12 March 2025 and from 3-4 December 2025. It will also launch in Dubai from 6-7 October 2025.
“We are excited about where we can take Space-Comm Expo, it is the UK’s go-to space event,” said Tom Morgan, partner and founder at Lunar Ridge Ventures. “This is the first investment we are making in the space industry, and we believe we can grow it substantially across the globe.”
Space-Comm Expo’s managing director, Christie Day, has moved with the shows. She said: “This investment is a game-changer for Space-Comm Expo and the UK space industry as a whole. With this support, we’ll not only build on our success here in the UK but also establish a global platform that showcases the UK’s leadership in space innovation.
Space-Comm Expo came to prominence earlier this year when Farnborough International fell out with its former joint venture partner, Hub Exhibitions and announced a rival space show to take place just one week after Space-Comm Expo’s new Excel London tenancy.
Despite there now being two UK trade exhibitions for the UK space sector taking place in the same month, Will Whitehorn executive chair of Space-Comm Expo and former president of Virgin Galactic believes that the investment from Lunar Ridge Ventures will guarantee its success.
Whitehorn said: “The space industry is highly interconnected and collaborative, and Space-Comm Expo plays a unique role in bringing together industry leaders from government and business, science and technology, to accelerate the growth of new space missions and exploration.”
Sherwood Events will stage Karen Brady’s Women in Business and Tech Expo at Excel London froom 1-2 October, 2025.
