The Network Of Women In Events has launched NOWIE 2.0 in an attempt to rebrand itself into a Community Interest Company, while championing gender equality and opportunities for women in the events industry.
Originally formed as a not-for-profit organisation, it has now registered as a Community Interest Company. Commenting on the change Cat Kevern, chair leader of NOWIE, said: “After being entirely volunteer-run for over a decade, this feels like one of the most significant changes we have made for NOWIE.”
Established in 2013, NOWIE has spent over a decade building its online community to open better opportunities for women within the events industry via networking and other advocacy schemes.
With over 10,000 current members, NOWIE’s efforts to create accessible, welcoming networking opportunities for women have led to nationwide regional events celebrating International Women’s Day and ‘speed networking’ sessions appearing at various industry events.
NOWIE will now be offering a membership area with new features, with Safe Events Global already confirmed as a sponsor.
Mark Breen, director of Safe Events Global explained: “The work Cat and the team at NOWIE do is both important and inspiring. We are delighted to partner with NOWIE and are very excited to see their plans come to fruition in the coming months and years.”
The launch was officiated at the Showman’s Show where NOWIE members and attendees participated in a Q&A session held by Cat Kevern.
